Types of Physical Exams

Physical Exam, Friendswood Urgent Care

People who come to Twin Oaks Urgent Care in Friendswood, Texas can opt for a specific physical exam. Our licensed and experienced doctors offer sports physical exams, school and camp physical exams, pre-employment exams, medical insurance exams, annual physical exams and a Department of Transportation (DOT) exam.

While we recommended an annual physical exam to stay abreast of potential health problems, there are times that you may need one to play a sport, enter school or to operate a truck for the Department of Transportation. A sports physical exam is a pre-participation exam and is different than a routine physical exam. It’s a checkup to assess your fitness and health as it relates to the specific sport. Our healthcare providers will be looking for any injuries or disease that may make it unsafe to participate in the sport. Plus, they will review your current medical history and family’s medical history. This information is considered during a physical exam.

Many schools now require physical exams prior to enrollment and for participation in school sports. Our school and camp physical exams include a physical health examination, pulse, hernia check, vision screening, blood pressure, height and weight and urinalysis. Most life insurance companies require a medical examination as part of the life insurance application process. Our insurance company exams include blood and urine specimens and blood pressure readings. If you’re over 50, the insurance company may also request an EKG, which we can perform. All around, we are prepared to perform a comprehensive physical exam for insurance companies.

We’re a licensed medical examiner listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) national registry and are authorized to perform a DOT physical exam. Our DOT physical exams include a health history review, a comprehensive physical exam and a urine test.

Pre-employment physical exams are becoming the norm in many industries. Our pre-employment physical exams include a vision test, respiratory evaluation and drug and alcohol tests when requested by the employer. We submit the results directly and quickly to employers.

Read What Our Clients Say

  • "Absolutely no wait. I loved the doctor. She was very professional and also called in my prescriptions so they would be ready for me quickly. The staff is very nice and efficient. They even stayed a little late to fit me in because the RediClinic at HEB wouldn't fit me in. I sat at the RediClinic for 20 minutes trying to find somewhere else to go while the nurse practitioner there sat on the computer alone, not seeing a patient. That was actually a huge blessing. My copay is more to go here, but it was worth EVERY penny!"

  • "Nice place . Glad they are open on Sunday"
